Review: As a fan of Korean Park Chan-Wook films, specifically its gross twist on the vampire tale thirst 2009s, I was extremely excited to see his first English proposals. Stoker, the first film produced by the United States by CWP, defiantly did not disappoint. This is because the director stays with what he knows, the story that you get all the features of its dark deeds Korea. However, Stoker also more intense than one would expect from Park Chan-Wook, the many moments of violence and corruption that may become more over the top is tightened down. Stoker focuses on the family in the name of India, Evelyn, and Richard Stoker (Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Dermot Mulroney). When Richard died in a mysterious car crash, her daughter oddball India are beginning to distance themselves further estranged from his mother, Evelyn. After burying their grandchildren, India visits the family Uncle Charlie. Seems Charlie bit out there, and start to build a broad relationship with India suggests that Uncle Charlie wants more family bonding. To elaborate further spoil the film, but needless to say its an interesting place. The story develops very slowly, with some dramatic breakthrough until the second half of the film, which includes more than speed fainting Wizz-bang and begin detail. It is not a bad thing, mainly because the characters are so attractive from the get-go with them as they go about their daily lives will be a pleasure. Even when the film appears to be resting on its laurels early, the presentation is excellent around (especially as far Wasikowskas performance and on-edge India). Besides a few odd holes, the script will remain strong throughout, providing many excellent dialogue courtesy of Wentworth Miller (you read that right, the dude from Resident Evil:. Afterlife Who saw that coming?) . Of course, the strongest link in the chain is Park Chan-Wook. From the opening scenes shots of the computer produced the piecemeal changes that occur throughout the film, his mark will be set out clearly in the film. Stoker never got ugly at times, and every shot dripping with unique flair Chan-Wook. My personal favorite is a scene early in a basement light fixture includes swing (think Once upon a time in the West). The only thing that feels absent compared with other efforts Cwps slew of scenes neasea-indusing whose sole purpose is to shock the audience. Although Stoker some jarring moments (think showers), for most of his stopped right compared to the Chan-wooks other works. It was fine until the last act, when nature calls for the end of the story better and exciting, then what is provided. So, despite landing not too sticky, Stoker eerily effective, well-behaved and pleasant start to what will hopefully be a long career for English Park Chan-Wook.
