| Review: Greetings again from the darkness. Great literature rarely makes for great cinema. The media are very different. However, great literature, in the right hands, can make for a very entertaining movie. Such is the case of Guy Ritchies interpretation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyles most character.Mr. Ritchie gives us quite a departure Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce Holmes and Watson. Here we have a great special effects super-human feats and tricks. Another twist is that this Holmes here is not careful, tedious bore in real life. In fact, he will live more than a frat boy or a rock star - full of trash room and seizures isolation.What not missing Holmes world-class attention to detail. The story is multi-layered and, in fact, a very interesting, if not a bit arrogant and high-concept. Still under construction, the Tower Bridge is a role in the movie, and the gloom and gray of London is captured perfectly.Of Of course, I will not reveal any details about the story other than to tell the good guys from the bad guy here ... wonderfully played by always Mark solid strong, which may or may not be dead. It always makes for an interesting case! Support Rachel McAdams and Eddie Marsan are fine, but Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are the real stars as Holmes and Watson. As strange as it seems, they really are a factor, a friend who works well on the screen. DOWNEYS physicality has always set it apart from many of today's actors ... he moves like a dancer and fight like a champion. Jude Law is often too pretty-boy for me, but it was really nice job of capturing reluctant sidekick Free skills.This is a great movie! It is designed to be a jolly good time eating tons of popcorn. Younger children are not able to follow the story, but anyone who has read the story of Holmes (and not against a little artistic) to see the movie. It is a very entertaining and fun to watch. |
