Review: Billy Taggart (Mark Wahlberg) is a cop in New York, which he got from the city on the technical after shooting a rapist / murder alleged. Released from the life of his captain (Jeffrey Wright), Taggart will be seen very Hostetler mayor (Russell Crowe), for taking out the trash from the common thug. Seven years later, Hostetler, amid re-election fight with Golden Boy Jack VALLIANT councilor (Barry Pepper), Taggart hired to find out who is sleeping with his wonderful wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones). As Taggart show discovers a conspiracy far more. In his first solo tour Allen Hughes (half the Hughes brothers, who brought us The Book of Eli) now offers a stylish, dark vision of corruption in New York. The girls are beautiful and have something to hide, people are aggressive and vicious, and the story is taken out of the headlines true-to-life galore. Broken City is living up to its name and fired a shot full of mystery and intelligence. It does not always translate into wise thoughts. Story sold in the trailer is a bit misleading, but perhaps this is the point. Hostetlers true-blue cop mayor hired Taggart small segment of a much larger puzzle only. It includes the police, the corruption politykóww business and take advantage of the rewards that all but Billy seems to look for: power. Overall, the subject of the film is more than adequately communicate. If you understand that and are not looking for anything else, Broken City is your ticket. As I watched the film, I think that there must be a substantial cut and re-edited. Maybe the break was too dry, so I added in some scenes and cut some to make a film seem more nervous. But it does not seem as sharp as it could be. The number of subplots (eg Phyllis actress girlfriend or undeveloped father-son relationship between the two villains) anywhere and still unresolved when the screen goes black. I felt the same way.Mark Wahlberg does an excellent job playing Mark Wahlberg, Poly he was born to play. Catherine Zeta-Jones as beautiful as ever and figure in a role that is too short for the film. But it's Russell Crowe, who devours her scenes with the intensity of political speculation is necessary for all real mayor of New York City. Even as the script around the late Billy Crowe tears out of his role. It shows why he is truly one of the best industry aktoróww. Supporting cast of the film in the same draw with the wires. Jeffrey Wright, usually supporting characters with more power than enables you to play invisible Commissioner of Police. Her character will be introduced as a warehouse but ends up much more. Kyle Chandler small role that deserves to be expanded. Barry Pepper, who has not been used in the trailer so far, the only actor in the film of the same bravado as Crowe. His paintings, especially one with Wright and Wahlberg, the reason why one should be on the poster, now buried in the credits at the bottom. Overall, Broken City kept my attention, but it gives me an unmet. Apparently all you can ask for in a movie theater. I would like to take this tour again. |
