Review: Original Godfather is a brilliant thing. It is in some sense a voyeuristic pleasure, allowing us to see inside Mafia - I became a part of the family. Change one of the world-view of organized crime and created a series of beautiful characters, none of which have a particle of common morality. It was the highest grossing film of its time and Brando created a cultural icon whose influence resonates as strongly today as in 1972.As a tremendous achievement that is, Part II is even better. It gets my head slightly as the best picture ever made. I have seen it at least 20 times and each time 200 minutes flying by.The film uses flashbacks to weave two stories brilliantly. The main story is Michael Corleone reign as the world's most powerful criminal. Now reaping the benefits of legalized gambling in Las Vegas, Michael is a billionaire with an iron fist, obviously a world of betrayal. Behind this, director Francis Ford Coppola's growth story revolves Michaels father, Vito, in the center of the crowd in New York. It is these scenes that make the film is a masterpiece. Without spoiling, I'll just say Robert De Niro as a young Vito is the best acting performance of all time, a role for which she won a richly deserved Oscar. The script is full of delicious little nuggets underworld (Keep your friends close ..... I do not want to kill them all, just my enemies) for blowing a thick plot twisted around you at a dizzying pace and relentless. Cinema is a depressing and atmospheric. Continuous score unglamorous role of its predecessor, heralding death and evil. All of this makes a great movie and infinitely watchable. But what is deeply in this film ... which is really about ... what is true Godfather Part II genius. The is not really a movie about the mafia, this is a film about a man's life long battle. Michael controls a vast empire that is constantly slipping out of his hands. It grows more and more suspicious and paranoid, and even signs that he hates his own life. Michael almost seems to resent the fact that he is a natural crime lord was born, a man who put family business before everything. The great Don Michael Corleone can not come to an agreement with a simple fact .... his father's empire was built on love and respect for Michael empire is built on fear and treachery.See violent film. By half past three very well spent.
